Here’s What Your Child will Learning July 2010 & Reflection Resources:
Monthly Key Verse:
Students will not only marvel at Jesus’ miracles, but also submit to His authority.
WEEK 1
Title: Jesus Feeds the Multitude
Passage: Matthew 14:13-21
Memory Verse: “And when Jesus went put He saw a great multitude; and He was moved with compassion for them, and healed their sick.” Matthew 14:14
Prompt: Ask your child these questions:

Why did so many people come to hear Jesus speak?

Why did Jesus tell the disciples to feed the crowd?

How many people did Jesus feed? And, what did he feed them with?
Practice: Help your child apply these truths in the following ways:

Believe that Jesus is God because He fed the multitude.

Trust that only through Jesus’ power can man be saved from sin.
-
Have compassion on those who need a Savior.
WEEK 2
Title: Jesus Walks on WaterPassage: Matthew 14:22-34
Memory Verse: “Then those who were in the boat came and worshipped Him saying, ‘Truly You are the Son of God.
Prompt: Ask your child these questions:
- What did Peter’s walking out on the water reveal about his faith in Jesus?
- How did Jesus respond to Peter’s fearful request for rescue?
- How did the disciples respond to this display of Jesus’ power?
Practice: Help your child apply these truths in the following ways:
- Trust that Jesus is able to provide salvation and sanctification to all who believe.
- Trust Jesus enough to serve and obey Him.
- Set aside time to pray to the Lord
- Keep your focus on Jesus.
WEEK 3
Title: Jesus defines Discipleship P
Passage: Matthew 16:13-17, 20-27
Memory Verse: “Then Jesis said, ‘If anyone desires to come after me, let him deny himself, and take up hid cross, and follow me.’” Matthew 16:24
Prompt: Ask your child these questions:

What was so shocking about what Jesus said was going to happen to Him in the near future?

What cost does Jesus say is required of those who wish to follow Him?

What does Jesus say is the reward for those who follow Him?
Practice: Help your child apply these truths in the following ways:
- Deny yourself, take up your cross, and follow Christ.
- Be mindful of the things of God.
